Athletic Rules

1. Students are eligible to participate in the Dixon Catholic athletic program until they turn thirteen on or before August 15th, preceding the season, in the 5th-6th grade. Students who turn 15 years of age on or before August 15th preceding the season, cannot compete in any conference game.
2. Participants must submit a completed physical examination prior to participating in the year's program.
3. Students are required to provide their own transportation to athletic events. The school assumes no such responsibilities unless otherwise notified.
4. Boys and girls wishing to participate in sports and/or extracurricular activities must maintain an acceptable grade average in their class work and conduct. This acceptability is based upon ability, effort, attitude, and completion of assignments.

If a student is receiving, in any one subject, a grade less than C, the student is ineligible to participate until the grade is raised. If the student does not accomplish this within two weeks, it may become necessary for the activity to be dropped so more time is available for study. If however, a student experiences difficulty in meeting this requirement, the teacher(s) and principal will determine whether the student is working to the best of his/her ability.

Each participant's eligibility will be handed into the office on Friday of each week. Notification regarding ineligible students will be given to the person coaching or supervising the activity.

If school is canceled due to inclement weather, athletic activities are also canceled for that day.

Dixon Catholic Volleyball is for 5th - 8th grade students and is a Dixon Catholic extra-curricular activity.  Students from St. Anne School and St. Mary's School Dixon make up the Dixon Catholic Volleyball team.

St. Anne School 5th/6th graders are eligible to participate in these athletic programs.

Newman Girls Volleyball Youth Camp

Dixon Catholic Boys and Girls Basketball is for 5th - 8th grade students and is a Dixon Catholic extra-curricular activity.  Students from St. Anne School and St. Mary's School Dixon make up the Dixon Catholic Basketball team.

Sauk Valley Saints Track is a co-op sport with the four deanery schools.  Practices take place at Newman on the track.  Students will wear the St. Andrew Rock Falls track uniforms.  Track fees are $25 and are separate from Dixon Catholic sports.  The first practice for the 2024 school year is March 18th!  Please see the flyer, handbook, waiver, and schedule below.

Sauk Valley Saints Cross Country is for 5th - 8th grade students and is a co-op with the other 4 area Catholic schools. 

Practice takes place at Newman, Centennial Park, or other various locations.  

2023-2024 School Year - We will start the cross country season on Monday, 8/7 at Centennial Park, Rock Falls, at 8 AM.  Interested 5th Graders should plan to attend.  Dr. Joe Welty will be coaching this year.

Sauk Valley Wrestling is for all area athletes K-8th grade. Practices take place at 4311 E. Lincolnway, Sterling.
 
Coaches needed!  Go to www.usamembership.com as soon as possible, and get a copper level card if you are interested in coaching at meets.
